Website Dedications

The following people are to be thanked for providing inspiration to my success as a professional art educator and for encouraging the development of this website

Tony Lenten for making me aware of my capabilities and for encouraging me to undertake further studies

Bob Hamilton for providing me with opportunities to pursue a career outside of the classroom that would help art teachers and students

Barbara and Harold Dover who challenged my professionalism and my thinking about art education issues and aesthetic values

Birgit Jennings who set an outstanding example as Chief Examiner for International Baccalaureate Visual Arts and who made it easy for me to follow her lead

Jenny Aland who made me aware of the value of thorough research, investigation and the recording of information. Without her influence I would never have undertaken Masters or Doctorate studies

Professor Douglas Boughton who made me aware of International Art Education and supported my role as Chief Examiner for International Baccalaureate Visual Art

Art teacher Sharen Wolfe. “Life beats down and crushes your soul, but Art reminds you that you have one.”  Thanks heavens for something believable like Art!

The many other art teachers worldwide who I could trust and who contribute honestly and positively to my knowledge of what students are capable of achieving and don’t just use my generosity! I respect them all.

Judy Darby who always supported me and carried me in my darkest hours. There is no-one I value more.

Dr. Max Darby – ‘The Guru’ – still!

A brilliant Art Educator and always so helpful, patient and courteous. I heard someone recently say “He’s an ordinary man who has achieved extraordinary things”. Wrong, he’s an ‘Extraordinary man who has achieved Extraordinary things. I know of no-one who has contributed more to Art Education here and overseas…maybe Elliot Eisner! Thanks Max just for being you.
