Terrific Torsos: Box Hill High School

These works were photographed by Max Darby in December. 2013

This exciting project about ‘terrific torsos’ was completed by Year 9 Three-dimensional Design Studies students at Box Hill High School under the guidance of art teacher Donna Nevard.

The work required students to undertake research into exploring ideas, materials and techniques as a reference to creating their own individual sculpture design. This was recorded and carefully annotated in their visual diaries. The paper mache` torsos can be purchased from major supplier Zart Art.

After repeating this activity over a number of years each of the approximately 150 torsos has been quite different and unique.
