Central Australia – Kings Canyon

These photographs were taken by Max Darby in 2015

Kings Canyon is located in Waratarra National Park in The Northern Territory. It is about 300 kilometers from Alice Springs in one direction and a similar distance to Uluru (Ayers Rock) in the other. The landscape inside Kings Canyon is amazingly rugged with soaring sandstone walls and large rocks that dwarf a tropical oasis and eco-system at its far end. There are fascinating walks through the canyon and it can also be observed from above by taking a helicopter ride.

The photographs in the gallery below provide a record of some of the brilliantly coloured and textured rock surfaces that can be seen above and around you as you walk into the canyon.
